(약과) – Yakgwa is a Korean dessert. In simple terms, it can be considered a Korean donut (minus the hole and shaped like a flower), and has a history dating back over 1,000 years. It is a fried biscuit made with ingredients such as honey and sesame oil. We get our Yakgwa from Poong Nyun Bakery in Koreatown, Los Angeles. We take the biscuits and break them into smaller pieces and blend it into our organic dairy mix. In a sense, it could be considered a Korean version of cookies & cream. Perhaps another name for it can be “Korean biscuits & cream”.
